I am very close to finishing a training seminar on Getting Your Graduate Degree. This is based on material I taught while I was at the University of Illinois. It is full of great information that goes step-by-step through the process of getting your graduate degree. I talk about how to do it effectively (and on schedule) while getting the most you possibly can out of the experience.
This training seminar will be an online video course with a very tight focus. I start with the goal in mind – getting your graduate degree by a certain date. Then we’ll step backwards through the steps that need to be completed to make it happen. We will also talk about important deadlines for getting your graduate degree funded and for getting money to fund your research. I will also talk about what you need to do during your junior and senior years in college to make yourself and exceptional candidate for graduate study and make sure you are well-prepared for the transition between undergraduate and graduate-level work. If you have been out of school for a while, that is no problem. I will talk about what steps you can take.
Graduate school is a fantastic experience, but it is one of those things we only do once, so it is important to know what to expect so you can plan effectively. This seminar is basically everything I wish I had known when I started graduate school and everything I taught to incoming graduate students (and even undergraduate seniors) who are thinking about earning a graduate degree.
However, I really need your help. Before I finalize the seminar, I want to be sure I have covered everything.
This is where you come in. Please take a couple minutes to complete this very short survey. There is only one thing that I want to ask you…
What are your top two questions about going to graduate school that I absolutely NEED to answer in this seminar?
If you would be so kind, send your questions through the form below. I will be sure to let you know when the seminar goes live, and about other materials I am releasing about getting a graduate education over the next few days. Thank you!
